Roberto Mancini is a Sore Loser

After Manchester United beat Manchester City 3-2, knocking out the defending champions in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, Roberto Mancini decided to blame not his team’s performance, but United’s Wayne Rooney.

And not because Rooney scored twice in a first half that saw the Red Devils run out to an insurmountable 3-0 lead. Because apparently Rooney was the only reason that Vincent Kompany was sent off in the 12th minute.

After the game Mancini said- “It was not a red card. Rooney told him (Foy) his decision.”

As a follow up, Mancini made clear his feelings. ”Yes, he (Rooney) was near the referee.”

Thanks for that Roberto. While it’s iffy if it was a straight red card, Kompany and Mancini have no one to blame but City’s skipper himself. Kompany left the ground and went in with two feet, a dangerous play and by the rule book an offence that can be punished with a straight red card. Did Kompany did ball? Yes. After Nani jumped over the challenge to avoid getting his legs wrecked. Not to mention Peter Foy, the referee in question, has a history of producing more red cards than any other referee.

So Roberto, next time you’re bitter because you got knocked out of a competition in the third round, have some common sense and blame your own captain who should know better than to make a stupid play at the ball when a one-footed challenge would have sufficed.

Besides, shouldn’t your $40 billion-whatever side be able to beat a United side that is so injury ravaged they had to bring Paul Scholes out of retirement?

Or if you’re gonna involve Rooney, maybe you should look at the fact he scored twice, including one hell of a header to open the scoring.

Suck it up Mancini. And enjoy watching United march on to the next round.
