Serie A Preview: AC Milan-Lazio
Two of the best teams in the Italian Serie A will face off against each other in a great match this Wednesday as AC Milan will look to put their early struggles behind hosting an always-dangerous Lazio side.
Through nine matches in the season, neither team has been able to fulfill the expectations of their fans. Lazio are sitting in seventh place with only 14 points while AC Milan have three fewer points and are in a disappointing 10th spot. Il Rossoneri will have the support of their fans at San Siro in what appears to be a tight contest but inside the pitch, no player is more important than Mario Balotelli.
The Italian striker is considered one of the deadliest players in the world and when he’s on his game, he’s virtually unstoppable. He has become the heart and soul of Milan since his arrival last season, and most of the offensive chances of the home side will lie on his shoulders.
Lazio, on the other hand, could probably try to counterattack through the flanks as they will look to secure their own defense first. But in the case they need to push forward, they will have to trust on what Miroslav Klose will be able to do. The German is coming off a great game against Cagliari and he seems to have plenty of gas left in the tank for a season where he will be the focal point of attack of the team.
Prediction: AC Milan 2-1 Lazio
Milan need to start putting things together before it’s too late, and this game against Lazio appears to be the perfect moment to start their turnaround. Lazio will prove to be a tough challenge, but the individual quality of the Milan squad will prove to be the difference in a tight encounter.
