Cobb rejoins Rays and says Ribs…I had Ribs for lunch – that’s why I’m doing this

First Things First:  I do not have confirmation that Alex Cobb really said that after rejoining the Tampa Bay Rays after surgery…but if you are a fan of the Movie “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” I can guarantee that would have been the 1st thing I said when I came back into the locker room.

On Thursday, Tampa Bay Rays RHP Alex Cobb had surgery to remove a clot in his right subclavian vein and he saved his top right rib after the procedure was finished.  Cobb’s father suggested that Alex keep the rib and with that said…the rib is sitting in a jar at Cobb’s house.

Cobb said, “It looks like you went to Chili’s and got a little baby rib and put it in a little jar of liquid.  It’s a big deal just because it’s a surgery, but they said that it in no way should it affect anything in the future.”  Alex went on to say, “They’ve removed the problem, so there’s no chance of it reoccurring unless I grow another rib there.”  The surgery didn’t involve anything to do with his arm or shoulder, so Cobb will be ready and 100% for the offseason throwing program.  Cobb also said the rehab process after this surgery has been very in depth and it is like having to learn how to breathe again, like Lamaze classes.
