Lions May be on the Prowl for Cortland Finnegan

Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE

Come March 13, if Cortland Finnegan does not get re-signed, he will become a free agent. Not necessarily the best decisions for the Titans right now in their road to a comeback.

If this were to happen, reports are saying that the Lions are in high pursuit of the AFC cornerback. Can you imagine Cortland Finnegan, Ndamulong Suh and  Kyle Vanden Bosch,  all on the same team? It’s a recipe for disaster. Like Ozzie and Big Z are going to be in Florida this summer, but that’s another story…

The thing is- Cortland is comfortable in Tennessee, going into Detroit puts him up with a very sketch team. Detroit is a team, like the Titans, who are in a bit of a rebuilding stage. They have a lot to think about, and a lot like Finnegan, many actions happening off the field end up effecting the players actions on the field.

Now Finnegan does have experience both with Vanden Bosch and head coach Jim Schwartz, considering both are past Titans. Schwartz was the defensive coordinator in Tennessee during Finnegan’s first three seasons with the Titans. Steve Tulloch also has some Titans blood in him.

There is no doubt in my mind that it would make the team a lot better protection wise with Finnegan’s 388 solo tackles and six sacks. Not to mention his 14 interceptions for 357 yards in his six year career with the Titans. I think all Tennessee fans would be upset if he left though.

Ruston Webster and Mike Munchak really have to think about the  kind of team they COULD have if Kenny Britt heals correctly also.
