Following another disappointing loss by the Toronto Maple Leafs, this time at the hands of the Washington Capitals. Are the Maple Leafs buyers or sellers? The Maple Leafs have no more games until before the Monday 3pm deadline and Burke needs to choose which side he thinks his team should be on.

Any decisions made by Brian Burke will be made on what has happen so far this season. A tough task to gauge when the Maple Leafs have only recorded 3 points in their last 9 games. Although the Leafs currently sit three points behind 8th place Winnipeg Jets.

Why we need to buy?
The Maple Leafs still have some major holes on the ice, more specifically in net and at center. There is pressure on Brian Burke to make the playoffs, since the team has not made the playoffs in quite some time. The Maple Leafs still needs a big top six forward and boy do they need it ever.

Why we need to sell?
Burke sells only on the basis of if he believes that he is unable to resign the player’s who turn to RFA’s or UFA’s this off-season. Or if the return value is greater than keep a certain player in Toronto, then why not do the trade.

Or will Brian Burke do a bit of both? Maybe buy and go for a significant player that will help the team in the long run. Or sell someone such as Mikhail Grabovski if Burke does not think he can re-sign him.

All it comes down to is getting player(s) that fit the needs of the Maple Leafs long term.

On another note, I wrote an article the other day on Colby Armstrong needing make a statement in yesterday’s game against the Capitals because Armstrong has absolutely been useless this season, mainly due to injuries. But yesterday we saw Armstrong score his first goal of the season. Though Colby only logged 8:05 of ice time.
