Rant-O-Matic: Previewing College Football Weekend

In the latest edition of Rant-O-Matic, we take a look at the top three college football games for fans to watch on Saturday.

Ohio vs. Penn State

Obviously, all of the attention will be centered around how the Nittany Lions during their first full season after the Joe Paterno era. With everything that has gone on during the offseason, Beaver Stadium will be electrifying with beloved fans that have united even more.

Boise State vs. Michigan State

This is one of the more interesting matchups for this weekend not only because both teams are ranked in the top 25, but both teams lost a ton of key players to the NFL Draft last April. It should be interesting to see how Boise State’s offense performs in their first game now that Kellen Moore and Doug Martin are in the NFL.

Michigan vs. Alabama

Easily the most anticipated matchup for Week 1, one of these team’s national title hopes could fade away fast based off what happens during this game in Dallas, Texas. Expectations are high for Denard Robinson after an impressive 2011 season in which he recorded over 1,100 rushing yards (impressive for a quarterback) and 36 total touchdowns (16 of them came on the ground).

Nick Saban has established a high reputation for Alabama having one of the nation’s top defenses and he’ll have his work cut out for him against the country’s top rushing quarterback. Alabama may be heavily favored going in, but there’s no telling what to expect from Brady Hoke’s squad this season.
