Scouts on Washington Redskins 3rd Round Pick, Josh LeRibeus
The Washington Redskins traded back two spots from 69 overall to 71 overall and selected Josh LeRibeus, Guard, SMU. A lot of Redskins fans were pretty shocked with this pick, however, the Redskins took an underrated player.
With LeRibeus, it should be noted that the Redskins have selected two players from Texas. However, you’ll be pleased to read this -
The Redskins do need to protect their new franchise Quarterback, Robert Griffin III, so selecting a guard makes a ton of sense. He’s a guy that can play on either side, and will compete for a starting job. Chris Chester wasn’t great on run plays, and LeRibeus could be his replacement. Once again, the Redskins are taking a player that fits the scheme, and in LeRibeus, you get a guy with a little nasty in him. The Philadelphia Eagles are forming their wide 9 defensive scheme nicely so far in this years draft, and the Redskins needed a guy that can handle power. Mike Shanahan knows offensive linemen, so let’s trust him on this selection.
Barring a trade up, the Redskins are done for the night, and will have a busy day tomorrow. With two 4th round picks, the Redskins should be able to find some great player – especially with the way the draft is going. Slot WR, CB, RB, and more OL are positions Washington may target.
