Brandon Banks and Aldrick Robinson have similar skill-sets and must prove they’re durable and consistent in order to seize a roster spot on the Washington Redskins’ 53 man roster.

The obvious difference between Robinson and Banks is about 3 inches and 13 pounds, with Robinson having the better end of that. The coaches want Robinson to take advantage of his opportunity and I’ve projected him to do just that, however – to be honest, Brandon Banks has looked just as good if not better. Obvious caveat is, we’re talking about practice. The competition begins and ends during the upcoming pre-season games.

Both Banks and Robinson are body catchers, and due to that, they’ve consistently dropped balls during practice. However, when they do make plays, it’s huge. Banks has practiced like a man possessed, making a few nice grabs for big gains and even sticking his nose in effort to display his blocking skills. He’s stepped his game up, and it has not gone unnoticed.

Robinson has looked great at times too, but it hasn’t been consistently. He has all the talent in the world, and the coaches like him, however he has to prove it in games. Mike Shanahan has said that Banks will need to play receiver in order to make the team and so far he’s stepping up to the challenge. But of course, there’s concern over how durable Banks can be.

We’ll allow games to be the deciding factor, because again – it’s just practice. Both players must prove their worth against opposing defenders, make a few explosive plays on special teams, and stay healthy.
