Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator, Mike Tice plans to play Chicago’s starting offensive line for a full half against the Washington Redskins in hope of settling a muddled situation across the line. The Bears have a huge question mark at their left tackle position and the coaches favorite – J’Marcus Webb has consistently failed at seizing the many opportunities Chicago’s coaching staff has given him.

Webb has a skill-set built to play left tackle, but his footwork has been messy and he lacks that mean streak Mike Tice likes to see. The coaching staff has essentially handed Webb the job on a silver platter and he has simply not proven himself worthy. Therefore, Tice could swap Webb and veteran Chris Williams to give each player ample opportunity to prove themselves against the Redskins’ front 7.

The Washington Redskins must take advantage of this. It’s a great opportunity for Brian Orakpo and company to showcase what many believe is the next great front seven in the league.

Not only does Chicago have a muddled situation at the tackle position, but their interior line is far from settled as well. Chris Spencer and Lance Lewis are the favorites to lock the guard spots, however veteran free agent pickup Chilo Rachal isn’t going down without a fight. Former Redskin’ Edwin Williams is working hard to secure a starting spot on Chicago’s O-line and has experience playing center.

If the Redskins wish to consider their front 7 one of the league’s elite, these are the type of match-ups you must take advantage of. Although it’s only pre-season, defensive coordinator Jim Haslett never wastes an opportunity to dial up blitzes and attack the quarterback. Seize the opportunity. Seize the Day.
