NCAA Reportedly Investigating Three UCLA Freshmen
Gary A. Vazquez-US PRESSWIRE

The NCAA is continuing their investigation into UCLA freshman Shabazz Muhammad, but on Sunday afternoon a report and rumor emerged that the NCAA was also investigating Kyle Anderson and Tony Parker.

The three UCLA freshmen were all top 25 recruits that formed an incoming class that were looking to put the Bruins back onto the national scene.

The inquiries into Muhammad have continued through the summer months and the 6-foot-6 freshman was disallowed from joining his teammates on their overseas tour in China. Now the investigation has grown to include two more UCLA freshmen. Anderson, who had been on fire during the team’s overseas trip, is a New Jersey-native, while Parker was the last addition to the Bruins’ class this past spring, coming to L.A. after growing up in Georgia.

UCLA head coach Ben Howland had a tumultuous season that has landed the head man on the “hot seat.” The Bruins, like most of the Pac 12, struggled in 2011-12, but expectations were high entering the season, and still will be if the NCAA investigation does not turn up any wrongdoing.

Scout.com first reported the news on Sunday and CBSSports‘ Jeff Goodman later reiterated the news via Twitter:

While the investigation remains in its initial stages, given word just broke this Labor Day weekend, the potential effect that it could have would be devastating for UCLA.

The NCAA’s investigation into Muhammad was tough enough for UCLA fans to hear, but now that the inquiry has reportedly expanded to both Anderson and Parker, the Bruins could face the possibility of losing their top three newcomers.

Outside of the fact that the NCAA is indeed investigating all three freshmen, how things will play out from here remain to be seen.

The NCAA is investigating Muhammad for his ties to financial advisors. It's looking into Kyle Anderson and Tony Parker's recruitments.
