All I Want for Christmas is for the Atlanta Braves to…

The Atlanta Braves made one of the first moves of the offseason this year by shipping Derek Lowe an $10 million to the Cleveland Indians. I thought this would be the precursor to the team’s activity this offseason, as they try to correct the problems that occurred in the final month of the season last year.

The only thing that the Braves have done since then is seemingly kick the tires on trading Martin Prado and Jair Jurrjens. Both players have drawn a lot of trade interest, but the Braves are asking for a lot in return for their two former All Stars. There has been some supposed ground-work for deals, but nothing has happened to this point.

I thought it would be appropriate to ask you the following question:

What move would you like to see the Braves make before or soon after Christmas? Maybe give a realistic addition and a “dream” scenario.

My dream scenario would be to trade Prado to the Rockies for Troy Tulowitski and Jurrjens to the Diamondbacks for Justin Upton.

First off, thanks for doing this blog, I really enjoy it.

Was just on MLBTR and Wren said that they have been quiet this offseason because they are happy with the team. That’s disappointing to hear. While I don’t really see what moves they can realistcally make, It sucks that they are happy with the team right now. We can’t score runs! We NEED a big bat somewhere. We will lose a slugfest 9 times out of 10.

      Brandon,
Thanks for reading and posting. I completely agree with you. It is disheartening that they are “happy” with the team when the team collapsed in September and didn’t make the playoffs.

Truthfully, I don’t think they need a huge addition to make this team better. I do feel that they need something. If they could add a hitter that hit lefties well, I think that would be a huge addition to this team. Josh Willingham was too expensive. There are hitters out there that could be the type of addition that we need. Wren is showing admirable and painful patience this year. Check out my last blog about the NL East getting more left-handed and this need more thoroughly.
