Is Doc Rivers Smiling Because Glen Davis Is gone? Mandatory Credit: Greg M. Cooper-US PRESSWIRE

“I like that he can score, number one, before anything else,” Rivers said of Bass. “I just thought he was one of those guys there that can score. Great pick-and-pop player. Not bad in iso situations away from the basket. We need that coming off the bench. I like that he just plays hard; low maintenance, just plays hard every night.”

The issues that head coach Doc Rivers had with former Celtics power forward Glen Davis are well documented. Doc and Davis butted heads constantly due to Glen’s both strong and odd personality. Doc wanted Glen to play hard every night, keep his mouth shut , and do the job the team required him to do in order for the Celtics to earn victories. The problem was Davis wanted to be a starting star power forward and believed that he could be that guy. However, the odd part is that even star power forwards put in serious effort. The lack of that kind of serious effort that many questioned whether Davis had last season led to his complete collapse last season. These issues are why it surprised no one that Davis was dealt to Orlando for Brandon Bass.
However, Doc fired a parting shot at Davis with his recent assessment of Brandon Bass. While complimenting Bass, he made sure to point out the fact that Bass is low maintenance and plays hard every night. If one reads between the lines they can clearly see that Doc is taking a shot at Davis. If Bass excels in his new role with Boston and the Celtics win another NBA title, then that will be an even bigger shot at Davis. I just get a feeling that this feud is not over just yet. Stay tuned for Davis’s rebuttle. Remember Go Green or Go Home!!!!!!!!
