Little League World Series U.S. Final An Instant Classic
Chris Gardner: US PRESSWIRE

The end of August is always a special time for little league baseball players and fans of the sport everywhere. The Little League World Series always has that one classic game that people will never forget and Saturday, the United States Final produced that classic game. Tennessee overcame a 10-run blown lead to defeat California by an incredible score of 24-16 to advance to the World Series against Japan, who defeated Panama earlier Saturday.

Tennessee had control most of the game before the sixth inning. Tennessee slugger Lorenzo Butler had an incredible day at the plate. Bulter hit three home runs in the game and recorded nine RBI, a Little League World Series record. Butler looks amazing out there under the huge microscope that all of the kids were under.

However, Tennessee did blow a 10-run lead in the final frame of the game. California’s Cole Tomei had a two-run double in the sixth then Hance Smith‘s solo shot tied the game up for California in the bottom of the sixth.

The following half-inning, Tennessee would put up nine runs on the board to quench any other effort by California to attempt a comeback. Tennessee won and will advance to the World Series.

This is the first time ever the state of Tennessee has been represented in the Little League World Series. The United States has won the last six of seven World Series. The last international team to win was Japan in 2010 when they defeated Hawaii 4-1. Japan will be looking for its eighth Little League World Series title.
