I’m not going to waste anyone’s time recapping the whole Olin Kreutz drama from this summer. We all know that it didn’t end well for either side and Kreutz ended up with the New Orleans Saints before retiring because of a reduced role.

The Bears find themselves without left guard Chris Williams due to a dislocated wrist. Considering that Gabe Carimi will be out a few more weeks and Edwin Williams is the only reserve interior lineman on the squad, Kreutz could add a player they knows the system and has the respect of his teammates.

According to an inside source, Kreutz settled out of his contract with the Saints. The problem is the whole way this situation ended here in Chicago. Plus, is he even in football shape? My inside source thinks this is a long shot. I do as well. But it’s interesting to think of Kreutz coming back, mending bridges and helping out the Bears. For the Bears, they add an experienced lineman with perhaps something to prove. If both sides could work this out, it could help cushion this blow.

3 Rants to “Should the Chicago Bears Bring Back Olin Kreutz?”

  1. alibud69 says:

What role would he fill though, does this not only work if garza moves from centre?? I think it’s a long shot as well, in honesty, would he be capable of coming into a locker room that used to view him as a leader and play the ageing vet role, not the leader of the pack role that he is used to playing??

  2. Jim says:

    Hey-
Long time follower here (2 days) I think this would be a good idea, he’s a warrior, why not?

  3. Katie says:

Why not bring him back? He played great for us in the past, and we should have made sure that he never left.
