Video: Players Brawl At High School Football Game in Pennsyslvania
Two high school football teams from northwestern Pennsylvania met Friday night for a seemingly regular late September game. Hickory was at Sharon and was up big early in the fourth quarter 43-7.
As was the case for most of the game, Sharon’s offense stalled and was forced to punt. This is where things got hairy. A brawl broke out on the Hickory sideline between players of both teams. Punches were thrown, bodies tumbled, and the action wasn’t reserved for the players only. Coaches and referees got involved, trying to break it up as other bystanders were being sucked into the madness as well. Multiple players on both teams have been suspended for an undisclosed period of time.
I don’t know what was worse, the brawl itself or the apparent lack of surprise and/or shock by the two guys calling the game. Their reaction was a bit underwhelming if you ask me. I guess they get some credit for going to a commercial break fairly quickly. Either way, this was certainly a disturbing incident.
