Despite the St. Louis Cardinals holding on to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 in Game 4 of the NLDS, one of the biggest stories from Wednesday’s game was the squirrel that ran across home plate in the bottom of the fifth inning when Roy Oswalt threw a pitch to Skip Schumaker. Now, it appears the Cardinals organization looks to eliminate any possible future squirrel issues with a series of traps.

According to the Associated Press, seven traps have been set up in Busch Stadium to catch the squirrel or any other squirrels that may cause problems in future games. No worries though–no squirrel or any other animal will be hurt from these traps as they are just filled with peanut butter and are rigged to have the back gate close so they can be taken to another location.

Of course, the important factor for the Cardinals is they find a way to win Game 5 on Friday so they can advance to the NLCS and have another chance to host a playoff game at Busch Stadium. Otherwise, squirrels running loose in Busch Stadium won’t be an issue for the team until next April.
