The St. Louis Cardinals Rally Squirrel Achieves Legend Status from MLB
According to an article from STLToday.com the MLB has added a ‘Legends are Born’ video for the St. Louis Cardinals Rally Squirrel.
Major League Baseball has added a fifth member to its “Legends are Born in October” ad campaign. Previously, the series celebrated the four championship series teams: the Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers.
The ad, released today, features the squirrel’s National League Division Series Game 4 dash from the first-base dugout, in front of home plate and batter Skip Schumaker, and into the stands, all set to Tinie Tempah’s “Written in the Stars.” It was the squirrel’s second appearance: It also streaked across the field during Game 3.
Shortly after his Game 3 appearance, the squirrel popped up on Twitter as @BuschSquirrel. He continues to encourage the team, amassing more than 24,000 followers. (@BuschSquirrel has been silent since the Cardinals’ Monday night win — he may be busy plotting his return at tonight’s game, or recovering from Monday’s post-game festivities.)
The grounds crew claims they have captured the squirrel as they said today they captured four squirrels and released them back into the wild. I think they should let the squirrel(s) roam the stadium; sure it would cause a delay during the game but the entertainment value could be endless. For example, think about the squirrel running the bases after Albert Pujols blasts one into the October night.
