We’ve seen this happen plenty of times before where a broadcaster slips on the air by saying something inappropriate, but this is ESPN’s Lee Corso we’re talking about here–so he should know better.

ESPN’s College Gameday was in Houston on Saturday as the No. 11 Cougars looked to keep their unbeaten season alive as they were preparing to take on the SMU Mustangs. As everyone knows, Corso is well-known for his traditional pick at the end of each segment and the video above shows him accidentally dropping the f-bomb right before putting the Cougars head on after selecting Houston to win the game.

Of course, the rest of the College Gameday crew couldn’t help but hysterically laugh after the incident considering they knew Corso was live on the air when it happened. In Corso’s defense, he was probably just jacked up and filled with adrenaline for today’s game as he usually is.

That’s definitely funny stuff. I’m now curious how much trouble ol’ Lee is going to get into with the mothership. ESPN is a HUGE advertising dollars money maker, and Gameday is one of their biggest programs every single week. So I guess the fallout will be determined by how upset the companies are that advertise on Gameday. If they don’t make a big deal over it, neither will ESPN. But if one of their major advertisers throws a hissy fit Corso could be in major trouble. It was definitely a funny moment, but I’m not sure how funny I would think it was if I had a young son who was watching the show with me. Because now you’re spending the rest of the morning explaining what that word is and why it shouldn’t be used. Even though he just heard a sportscaster use it on live TV. If this was indeed a slip up, I don’t think anything should be done to Mr. Corso. Especially since he got out in front of the problem and almost immediately apologized. Which he did before all the vultures in the media could make more out of it than what it was. The comment just seemed to roll right off his tongue like it was a scripted moment. If it was a slip-up you would assume that there might’ve been a bit of a stammer in there when he realized what he had just done. But there was nothing of the sort. Which leads me to believe it was more of a planned thing. The reactions of the other guys on the set weren’t ones of shock, but more so ones of losing it with laughter. Which I must say that’s exactly how I reacted also. So I do hope that Mr. Corso isn’t suspended or, even worse, fired for somethng that silly. Just let him pay the unavoidable fine that’s going to be levied by the F.C.C., and put it in the past.
