Detroit Lions Coach Jim Schwartz Promises Benching For Post-Play Fouls

Apparently Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has decided to pull his head out of his you-know-what and start penalizing his own players for dumb penalties.

Sources are saying the coach is promising players will be benched if they get out of line and draw flags for nonsense after a play.

Something tells me that isn’t going to deter any of it, but we will see.

It is funny how you were never hearing about this during Detroit’s 5-0 start, which was not void of personal foul penalties, but now that they have dropped five of their last seven games people begin to question the “dirtiness” of the Lions.

Many have been critical of Schwartz for not stepping in earlier when Ndamukong Suh was racking up the personal foul penalties, and now the Lions are paying for it as he is missing the second of a two-game suspension.

The Lions were flagged for over 100 yards of penalties against the Saints last weekend, and those flags also resulted in a loss of more than 100 gained yards on those plays.

Something had to be done to stop the bleeding, and Schwartz is hoping this is it.
