Apparently Even Danica Patrick Could Not Prevent GoDaddy Outage

Kevin Liles-US PRESSWIRE

So this may not truly be a story worthy of posting on Rant Sports, but it’s just the kind of thing that is so hilarious that I couldn’t help it. Apparently GoDaddy, the site responsible for hosting millions of sites, has been hacked and millions of those sites have been taken down. An anonymous site is apparently taking credit for the hack job, and GoDaddy is currently working on the issue.

Even if you do not know who GoDaddy is, unless you’ve been living under a rock the past few years, you have seen the commercials. Danica Patrick is a sex symbol in the sports world. Guys simply cannot get over how someone so sexy could actually be linked to the sports world, and GoDaddy no doubt took advantage of this for their campaign ads.

In just about every single television ad, or at least the ones that came out first, the commercial makes no mention of what GoDaddy actually does, but entices the watcher to go to the website to see more after showcasing Patrick in some sexy outfit, or nothing at all. It is the perfect ad. It plays on the male species’ inability to resist looking at beautiful women when the wives are at the grocery store. No doubt millions upon millions of men went straight to their laptops, smart phones or tablets to check out GoDaddy the moment they saw the commercial. I admit to being one of those culprits.

Maybe the ads with Patrick served as motivation for the hack. Perhaps the nerds who pulled off the job were heartbroken when they discovered GoDaddy was not some website dedicated to showing racy pics of the racing icon, and made it their life’s goal to ruin the site’s reputation.

Whatever the case may be, this is a funny story, and we felt compelled to share it with you.
