Chris Bosh went 14-27 from the field and scored 33 points to lead the Miami Heat (7-1) past the Atlanta Hawks (4-3) in triple overtime, 116-109.

LeBron James (sprained left ankle) and Dwayne Wade (left foot) both sat out with injuries but plenty of players filled in to pull out the incredible victory. Along with being the game’s leading scorer Bosh also had 14 rebounds, 5 assists, two steals and two blocks. Mario Chalmers helped out a great deal in the scoring department with 29 points of his own and Udonis Haslem added 14 as Miami shot 44.1% from the field.

The Hawks had six players in double digit scoring led by Joe Johnson with 20 points. Tracy McGrady was the most productive player for Atlanta recording 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, one steal and two blocks in 30 minutes off the bench.

With 10 seconds left in the game, Chalmers passed to Bosh who made a 26-foot three point shot to send the game to overtime. The Heat had a four-point lead twice in the first overtime but the Hawks eventually tied it up as Josh Smith hit a 20-foot jump shot. Chalmers missed a three pointer to win the game.

Once again, Miami had a four-point lead two separate times in the second overtime but couldn’t capitalize. Ivan Johnson missed a layup for Atlanta but Marvin Williams was there to tip it in for the lead. Chalmers drew a foul with 23 seconds left and made both free throws.  The Hawks still had a chance to win the game but Shane Battier blocked Johnson’s layup to send the game into triple overtime.

Miami didn’t take any chances this time around as they never allowed Atlanta to score a point. The Hawks missed seven shots and turned the ball over twice. Teams around the league got to see how good the Heat really are this season. They were able to defeat a talented Hawks team in three overtimes on the road without their two best players. It will be interesting to see how much this team has improved 30-40 games from now.
