According to the Los Angeles Lakers, guard Kobe Bryant suffered a broken nose at the hands of Dwyane Wade during the NBA All-Star game Sunday night.

After the highest scoring first half in All-Star history both teams decided to play harder on defense in the third quarter. After receiving a pass from point guard Chris Paul, Bryant made a swift move around Wade and headed for the basket. As he went for the layup, Wade slammed both arms around him as his right hand connected with Bryant’s nose. Bryant walked over to the Western Conference bench after the hard foul with blood dripping out of his nostrils.

According to team reports, a CT scan showed Bryant suffered a nasal fracture and is expected to be re-evaluated by nose specialist Dr. John Rehm Monday morning in Los Angeles.

Wade told the media after the game he had no intentions of drawing blood but is not going to apologize for the hard foul.

“Yeah, I obviously didn’t try to draw no blood, but I took a foul,” Wade said. “Kobe fouled me two times in a row, so he’s still got one up on me. But I’m glad that everything was cool and we got back to being competitive and having fun.”

Wade went on about Bryant surpassing legend Michael Jordan for the most career points in NBA All-Star history and how lucky everyone is to be currently playing with one of the best players of all-time. Bryant’s 27 points Sunday night gave him 271 for his career which is nine more than Jordan’s 262.

“Tonight, he does what he normally does,” Wade said. “He got 27. He’s Kobe Bryant. He scores the ball. He’s a tough cover. But it’s great being a little piece of history. He’s one of the best of all time. We will one day say we had the honor of playing against one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball.”

With five NBA Championships, two NBA Finals MVP, and one league MVP there is no doubt Bryant will go down as one of the top ten best players in NBA history when it is all said and done.
