Dwight Howard Asks Magic to Acquire Steve Nash
Brad Mills-US PRESSWIRE

With the NBA’s March 15 trade deadline looming, the latest news surrounding the highly sought-after Orlando Magic center, Dwight Howard, is that he has asked the Magic’s front office to acquire Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns.

According to HoopsWorld, Howard, who demanded a trade early this season, has stated that he will not excercise his early termination option if the Magic are able to land the aging, yet still incredibly effective, point guard.

Though Nash, who turned 38 this year, is in the final year of his contract, sources claim that the Suns would like to resign him to a 2-year deal this summer.

Though it would be great to see Howard and Nash team up, sources close the Suns don’t expect it to happen. Phoenix has previously stated that they don’t intend to trade Nash unless he asks them to do so, and Nash has stated that he would like to finish his career with the Suns.

However, with Nash heading into the final years of his career, he may see that his best chance to earn an NBA title rests with Dwight Howard and the Magic.

Even if the Suns do decide to shop the point guard, the Magic may not have the pieces needed to reach a trade agreement.

Nevertheless, because Nash has always been loyal to the Suns, and they to him, though the Magic may seek to acquire Nash (and to keep Howard), it isn’t likely to happen.
