It’s getting closer and closer to being official; it has been tweeted by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning have agreed to $96 million over 5 years and the Broncos will announce their new QB officially at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Broncos/Peyton agree on 5 yr, 96M deal, per @AdamSchefter. Sense that all finalist teams were "pre-qualified" on $$ before any visits.

As much as I love the idea of Manning being in Denver, I hope he can stay healthy. It looks like the Broncos are comfortable with Manning’s ability. I have not heard or know if the contract will have anything in it protecting the Broncos if Manning does not meet certain healthy issues, but I really hope it does.

The signing of Manning is just something you have to do as an organization. His services will help the franchise in the short run and long term. In the ideal situation Manning plays 3 healthy seasons and the Broncos contend for a chance at playing in a Super Bowl. In the next NFL Draft or two the Broncos must find a rookie QB that will be groomed under Manning and eventually replace the future Hall of Famer.

No one in their right mind can say that Peyton Manning will not benefit the Denver Broncos more than Tim Tebow or any other free agent that was available. Now there was the option of not trading Tebow and trying to develop him under Manning, but I am assuming the organization decided that would be too difficult or not in all parties’ best interest. That option still might happen, but we will just have to wait and see.
