2014 Fantasy Baseball: Avoid Second Basemen For Los Angeles Dodgers

The second base position has historically been very thin in fantasy baseball. There are only so many quality options out there and many owners in deeper leagues are forced to roll the dice on an unproven 2B. If this is how you plan to run your draft, make sure to avoid the second basemen for the Los Angeles Dodgers at all costs.

Chone Figgins – At 36 years old, Figgins doesn’t have much left in the tank. He has only played 147 total games over the last two seasons and averaged an embarrassing batting average under .190. He may start a couple games at second for the Dodgers, but he certainly isn’t a season-long solution.

Dee Gordon – Gordon is one of the fastest players in the majors. He has 80-steal potential and is next to impossible to throw out on the bases. Unfortunately, he is a dreadful hitter (.256 career batting average) and has had a tough time transitioning from shortstop to second base. Gordon will always be a role player and won’t be worth a fantasy roster spot.

Alex Guerrero – Guerrero was the latest off-season international signing by the Dodgers, as he signed a lofty four-year, $28 million contract. The Cuban is still somewhat raw, though, and will start the year off in Triple-A. He has an amazing glove and is a very strong in the field, but he doesn’t have the best bat. He may be worth grabbing in deeper dynasty league formats, however, he has little value in one-and-done leagues.
