The MLB season is in the midst of its first full month and it's starting to look like some teams are making serious statements while others are struggling to hit their stride. With about six months to go, there is far too much time to think about contenders after just two weeks.

On the other hand, fantasy owners would love to know who the top performers are after two weeks. Let's take a look at the top 15 first basemen so far in 2014.

Honorable Mention: Albert Pujols, Los Angeles Angels

Albert Pujols has had quite the solid comeback season for the Angels as the slugger is just four home runs shy of the 500 mark.

Chris Davis had a monster year in 2013, hitting over 50 home runs and nearly 140 RBI. The Orioles' power hitter isn't quite relaying the power numbers into his 2014 stats thus far, but he has still been productive.

2014 stats: .292 AVG, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 9 Runs, 2 SB

14. Adam LaRoche, Washington Nationals

Adam LaRoche is trying to help the Nationals finally reach a World Series and his production in the 2014 seas has been enough to ensure this team won't have any question marks at first base.

The Oakland Athletics are off to a solid start in 2014 -- not surprising since they are a staple in the playoffs seemingly every year. Brandon Moss continues to hit the cover off the ball.

Adrian Gonzalez might be getting up there in age, but the veteran first basemen has shown some serious power this season. If he's on your fantasy team, you're likely a very happy owner.

Casey McGehee's Marlins started the season with a healthy 5-2 record, but then went on to lose eight of their next nine games. While Miami is just 6-10, they are still much better than people expected -- sad, but true.

2014 stats: .305 AVG, 0 HR, 13 RBI, 3 Runs

Matt Adams was the replacement at first base for Albert Pujols when he left two years ago. While it's nearly impossible to replace the kind of production that Pujols was good for, Adams is doing his best.

2014 stats: .362 AVG, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 4 Runs

Justin Morneau's career seemed to be nearing an end once he left the Minnesota Twins, but his career has gotten back on track a bit with the Colorado Rockies. The first baseman doesn't exactly have the same type of power he once had, but he's getting there.

2014 stats: .354 AVG, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 5 Runs

8. Mike Napoli, Boston Red Sox

Mike Napoli was a key reason as to why the Red Sox won the World Series a season ago, but back-to-back titles will rely heavily on his success once again. Napoli is off to a strong start this season -- to no one's surprise.

2014 stats: .302 AVG, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 6 Runs

Many of you fantasy owners out there picked up Adam Lind as a late-round fill-in, but the Blue Jays' first baseman has been better than people expected.

2014 stats: .324 AVG, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 7 Runs

6. Chris Colabello, Minnesota Twins

Chris Colabello isn't a well-known name, but if he keeps up this type of play, he will take the league by storm and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets picked up in most, if not all, fantasy leagues.

2014 stats: .306 AVG, 1 HR, 15 RBI, 6 Runs

Brandon Belt has been a fantasy stud this season. If you were crazy, like myself, you dropped him in the first couple of days, and he showed you just why that was a terrible move.

Joey Votto is a staple of the top-five first basemen in baseball. It looks like the Reds have one of the most consistent hitters in baseball -- let alone first basemen. He also gets on base nearly 50 percent of the time.

Paul Goldschmidt bursted onto the scene just a few years ago and he has been one of the scariest hitters in baseball since. This could be the year the young first baseman finally wins the NL MVP.

Freddie Freeman has just been tearing up National League pitching this year and the Braves' first baseman has easily earned himself a top spot on this list. Freeman could be the best young first baseman in the game today.
