Week 3 Fantasy Baseball: 5 Underappreciated Players

Despite the fact that Gomes has inherited the everyday catcher role, he has gone underrated this season. He is still hitting .293 on the year and has already added two homers through the first 13 games. Gomes deserves to be a full-time starter in all formats.

Ownership: 32.8 % (ESPN)

Hawkins continues to solidify his hold on Colorado’s closer role. He is now 3-for-3 in save opportunities and he hasn’t allowed an earned run since his lone hiccup in his first appearance of the year. The 41-year-old has become a must-own in all fantasy leagues.

Ownership: 58% (ESPN)

Lohse is coming off his best performance of the year. He lasted 8.2 innings in a 4-1 win this week over the Pirates and allowed just one earned run while striking out nine batters. He is now 2-1 on the year and the veteran has a respectable 3.05 ERA. The right-hander will be an innings monster this season and should be owned in all formats by now.

Ownership: 53.8% (ESPN)

Solarte has been a rock this season. He has played in every single game for the Yanks and currently has a robust .348 batting average with a .434 OBP. Solarte has also driven in seven runs this season and continues to fill the box score night after night.

Ownership: 42.6% (ESPN)

Walker has been absolutely tearing the cover off the ball this year. The second baseman has already crushed five home runs in 2014, including three long balls in the last three games alone. He may not have the best average (.259), but his staggering power numbers should keep him active in all formats.
