Fantasy Football Week 2: Top 5 Wide Receivers
Entering Week 2 in Fantasy Football, some of the league's usual standout wide receivers look like they will make huge impacts as usual. Here are the top five fantasy options at wide receiver entering Week 2 of Fantasy Football.
5. Jordy Nelson
5. Jordy Nelson
Jordy Nelson, after recording nine receptions for 83 yards against a stout Seahawks secondary, will likely face Antonio Allen when the Packers play the Jets on Sunday. The Jets secondary is full of question marks; Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will likely expose the Jets' weak secondary early and often on Sunday. If Nelson catches at least nine passes like he did last week, one of them will probably be a touchdown pass.
4. Julio Jones
4. Julio Jones
Jones, who recorded seven catches for 116 yards against the Saints in Week 1, looks to build on his progress in Week 2. The Bengals secondary, although it held Baltimore scoreless for the entire first half, looked questionable after Steve Smith burned Adam Jones for an 80-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. This game could be a shootout, and Jones will likely catch eight to 10 passes for over 100 yards, scoring at least one touchdown.
3. Calvin Johnson
3. Calvin Johnson
"Megatron" is a must-start no matter who he plays; the Lions wide receiver will take on an overrated Panthers secondary led by three veterans past their prime in Charles Godfrey, Thomas DeCoud and Roman Harper. Johnson could expose the Panthers' weak secondary and score over 20 fantasy points for the second straight week of the 2014 season after catching seven passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions' win against the Giants.
2. Demaryius Thomas
2. Demaryius Thomas
In Week 1, Thomas had limited production as Peyton Manning heavily targeted Julius Thomas. Although the Broncos' tight end played well, a few bad plays by Julius Thomas almost lost the game for the Broncos; Peyton Manning will likely involve Demaryius Thomas more this week, after Thomas only recorded four catches for 48 yards in Week 1. "DT" will likely rack up a lot of fantasy points this week against a vulnerable Kansas City secondary.
1. A.J. Green
1. A.J. Green
A.J. Green is the definition of fantasy consistency; he caught 11 touchdowns in each of the past two seasons , recording 2,276 yards in the process. Green sustained a foot injury earlier in the week, but don't freak out -- Green hasn't missed a game since 2011; he will be good to go on Sunday. After catching six passes for 131 yards in Week 1, Green could catch 8-10 passes for 150-plus yards against a horrendous Falcons secondary.
