In Week 3, it will be an entertaining division matchup between two 1-1 teams, as the Green Bay Packers will head to the Motor City to face the Detroit Lions. For fantasy football owners, this matchup should provide lots of points between the two teams, with the Packers and the Lions both having extremely good offenses, and both not having the greatest of defenses. For the Packers, their quarterback Aaron Rodgers is primed for another very good game for fantasy football.
Against the New York Jets in Week 2, Rodgers bounced back nicely from a disappointing Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. In the Week 2 victory, Rodgers threw for 346 yards with three touchdown passes, as he tore apart the Jets’ secondary. Rodgers was one of the better QB’s in fantasy football for Week 2, and against the Lions, could easily replicate that performance.
Last season, Rodgers played very well against the Lions, going 20-for-30 with 274 yards, but only had one touchdown pass. In 10 games against the Lions in his career Rodgers has a 9-1 record with 19 touchdowns to just five interceptions, and is averaging 255.9 yards per game.
The Lions’ defense last week wasn’t very impressive against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in their 24-7 loss. Newton, despite being questionable to play with bad ribs, threw for 281 yards and a touchdown, as Detroit’s secondary just doesn’t seem to be all that good.
For Week 3, Aaron Rodgers should be ready for another good game. Although he may not have 346 yards passing like he did against the Jets, it is pretty safe to give him between 250-300 yards passing with two touchdown passes, as the Lions’ secondary doesn’t have the talent to guard Rodgers’ main weapons, Randall Cobb or Jordy Nelson.
