Austin Davis Fantasy Football Week 7 Projection

The St. Louis Rams have not had the best of luck when it came to who they hoped would be their franchise QB in Sam Bradford, as he hasn’t been able to stay healthy at all the past few seasons. Despite losing their starting QB the last two years, the Rams haven’t completely fallen apart, as last season it was Kellen Clemens filling in, and then in 2014 so far it has been Austin Davis. The Rams maybe 1-4 on the season, but they have kept it close against some quality opponents.

Davis has exceeded all expectations this season as the starting QB. In five games, Davis has 1,365 passing yards with seven touchdown passes and four interceptions. Davis certainly is not a fantasy owner’s dream starting QB, but if their normal starter is on a bye week or injured, Davis is a serviceable replacement like he’s been for the Rams this season.

In Week 7, however, Davis and the Rams will not have an easy game against the Seattle Seahawks, who were just embarrassed at home by the Dallas Cowboys, and then sent their best WR in Percy Harvin to the New York Jets. The Seahawks’ defense is still one to fear, and is likely a hungry bunch after the loss at home, which could lead to problems for the young Davis.

Last week against another division opponent in the San Francisco 49ers, Davis struggled a bit. He completed just 50 percent of his passes by going 21-for-42, and only threw for 236 yards with a TD and interception.

Ideally, fantasy owners should try to avoid playing Davis this week at all costs, as he and the Rams could very well be run off the field if the Seahawks show up angry about last week’s loss.

Projection: 230 yards passing, one touchdown and two interceptions.
