This is a fantasy hockey based weekly blog, where I will feature 3 hot and 3 cold players each week, every weekend. So that you can use my suggestions, update and prepare your fantasy teams accordingly for the coming week.

This week I am featuring three players from the New York Islanders who have been on a tear as of late.

3 HOT
Kyle Okposo (NYI) – Okposo have stretched is goal streak to five games with the Islanders’ 6-3 against the Boston Bruins. During the past five games Okposo has recorded 6 goals and 1 assist. As it’s great to see Okposo heating up late this season, even though he will not surpass his career high of 52 points with only four games left in the Islanders schedule. Nevertheless, make sure Okposo is in your fantasy line-up as you team makes its way through their playoff run.

Josh Bailey (NYI) – The second of three Islander players who have exceed expectations in the last few games is Bailey. The native of Bowmanville, Ontario, has collected 12 points over his last 7 games. If Bailey continues at his current pace, Bailey could end with a career year in points if he can pass his 35 points he set back in the 2009/10 season.

Frans Nielsen (NYI) – The third of three Islanders’ who have been on a tear over these past two weeks is Nielsen. This native of Denmark has collected 8 points in his last 5 games. As Nielsen is well on his way to having a career year, as he is currently tied his career high of 44 points, which was set back in the 2010/11 season.

3 COLD
Dustin Byfiglien (WPG) – Byfiglien production woes could be due to a lower body bone bruise that he suffered last Saturday. His 2 points in eight games is far below what Dustin has been able to do all season. But Byfiglien being the tough guy that he is, he continues to play through his injury, even though the Jets have been officially eliminated from playoff contention. I would not personally rely on Byfiglien for the remaining week of fantasy playoff hockey.

Tobias Enstrom (WPG) – Byfiglien is not the only Winnipeg Jets defenseman who has struggled during the month of March. Enstrom is currently on a five game pointless streak and is on pace for 31 points this season, 20 below last year’s career season of 51 points. Even though the Jets have exceed expectations this season, Enstrom has been nothing but a disappointment to me this season.

Derek Roy (BUF) – Roy has had a dismal month of March with 5 points is 16 games, along with a plus minus of -3. The Buffalo Sabres have three remaining games and need Roy to play like a top six forward if this team has any chance of getting that eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
