NHL on NBC anaylst Mike Milbury joined the morning show on 94 WIP in Philadelphia to discuss yesterday’s Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers game.  Always known for being very straight-forward and not mincing words, he let everyone know how he felt about Sidney Crosby and yesterday’s game.

Milbury told host Angelo Cataldi, “I loved every minute of it. I loved especially the last five minutes of it, and it was great TV. And who knew that Jaromir Jagr in his old age was going to become poetic, saying the hockey Gods always make it interesting.”

He was than asked how common it was for a coach to challenge an assistant.  “It’s not totally uncommon,” he responded. “I can remember being on such a perch, or at least trying to climb over the boards to get at somebody to make a point. And I thought Dan Bylsma should have took off his skirt and gone over there.  I thought it was pathetic.  The only thing that upset me from the Flyers side was the [Craig] Berube, tough guy Berube, is holding back [Peter] Laviolette.  I thought he would have been pushing him forward.”

The NHL has a new rule suggestion from Milbury.  ”They should make a new rule, that one game a year you can have a bench clearing brawl,” he suggested. “They should do that next Saturday, don’t you think that would be the perfect time.  Like get it all on the table, there is a lot to be settled.”

Milbury then asked Cataldi who he thought started the whole thing to which Cataldi said that we felt Crosby did.  ”Yeah exactly, exactly little goody two shoes Crosby goes into the corner and gives a shot to [Brayden] Schenn. Schenn was late to the party, he should have turned around and drilled him right away, but I guess better late than never,” Milbury said. “So you know, Crosby gets cross-checked, big whoop. He said after he came back from his ya-know 35th concussion, ‘I’m not going to do this anymore, I’m not going to get into this scrums, I’m going to stay away from that stuff.’ He couldn’t help himself because there’s a little punk in Crosby. He’s not the perfect gentleman. He’s not the sweet kid you see in interviews with his hat pulled down over his eyes. I’d say screw him, hit him, whenever you get the opportunity.”

After that Milbury did say he does like some dirt because it adds to it.  Milbury did also say Crosby whines with the best of them and is on a Wayne Gretzky level with his whining.

Here is the link for the entire interview with Milbury on WIP.  I was laughing the whole time listening to Milbury, it will probably leave most fans laughing unless you are a Penguins fan.

Laviolette was fined $10,000 and Tony Granato was fined $2,500.
