It has been a quiet offseason so far for the Golden State Warriors and it will likely stay that way. The Warriors did make a noteworthy move this week to acquire point guard Jarrett Jack from the New Orleans Hornets in a three team trade that included the Philadelphia 76ers. Small forward Dorell Wright was sent to the 76ers and Darryl Watkins as well and the Hornets received the draft rights to Edin Bavcic.

This move was certainly a necessity for the Warriors as Wright struggled last season and saw his playing time decrease with the emergence of Klay Thompson and the acquisition of Richard Jefferson from the San Antonio Spurs and on draft night the Warriors selected Harrison Barnes, which meant that the Warriors were going to move a small forward.

Acquiring Jack was a shrewd move by the Warriors. He immediately improves the point guard position with his toughness, his defense, experience and can take the pressure off of Stephen Curry from having to log heavy minutes.

Jack is coming off a career year for the Hornets as he averaged 15.6 points, 6.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds, .7 steals and shot 45.6 percent from the field, 34.8 percent from three, 87.2 percent from the free throw line and averaged 34 minutes per game. His career averages are 10.8 points per game, 4.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds, on 44.7 percent shooting, 35 percent from three, 85.3 percent from the free throw line and averages 27.6 minutes per game.

Besides playing for the Hornets, Jack has played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors. In his career he has spent time starting and coming off the bench, so he can certainly handle both responsibilities well and he is also durable never missing more than three games in a full 82 game season and played in 83 games in 2010-2011.

On offense Jack has a very good  jumper from 15-18 feet, can get to the rim, he has very good vision and he will pick his spots to take a three though that is really not his game. He is not much of a gambler on defense, so he will not rack up the steal numbers and he will make sure to stay in front of his man and make them work.

The Warriors will now have a rotation at the point guard position of Curry, Jack and Charles Jenkins.

With the Warriors making the move to bring in Jack that was a very good move. Now the Warriors can concentrate on bringing in another big man as the point guard, shooting guard and small forward positions are all taken care of.
