The Indianapolis Colts know more than they’re letting on regarding Peyton Manning’s health. FOX Sports’ Chris Myers spoke with Manning on Sunday after the Colts’ 27-19 loss to the Carolina Panthers and said Manning gave the impression he would retire after this season.
Manning is obviously discouraged with his health and his team’s current 0-11 record without him at quarterback for the first time in over a decade. The Colts have also committed to drafting Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, so Manning may just not think it’s worth trying to come back after three neck surgeries.
Of course, none of this is confirmed; this is simply Myers’ opinion after directly speaking with Manning. Still, it’s not surprising to think arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history has played his last game.
