2nd Round of the 2012 NFL Draft possibilities.

With the combine underway in Indianapolis, all the teams front office personal is scouting potential football players for their teams. The players will undergo a series of tests, both physical and mental. They also will be ran through the ringer with the interview process.

The Indianapolis Colts hold the number one pick in this years draft, and all signs point toward them drafting Stanford junior, Andrew Luck. We will not be talking about him here though, instead let’s talk about the second selection for the Colts.

After a 2-14 season the Colts need more help than just a new quarterback. The idea would be to build around Luck and in most cases they would. But when a team needs so many players they have to think of both sides of the ball.

Here are three guys, if they available, the Indianapolis Colts should draft.

#1 on the Indianapolis Colts wish list has to be a defensive tackle. With the idea of resigning Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney, if the could draft a big run stopper in the middle it would strengthen up that defense line, and take some pressure off the two pro-bowlers.

Jerel Worthy from Michigan State- is a 6 foot 3 inch, 310 pound man, and started 24 out of 26 games at Michigan State. He recorded 77 tackles and 8.5 sacks. With the two center points on this defense on either side of him, Worthy could make for a great interior lineman for years to come.

#2 Option is another defensive player.

Dontari Poe from Memphis-  is a 6 foot 5 inch, 350 pound nose tackle. If Coach Pagano goes with a 3-4 defense he could be a huge addition. Poe is considered one of the best interior lineman in the 2012 draft, and if he were to fall this far the Colts must draft him in the second round.

#3- Option is not a defensive player, but a wide receiver.

Reuben Randle from LSU- is a 6 foot 4 inch, 208 pound wide receiver. With the uncertainty of Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon the Colts will need a big time receiver to go with Andrew Luck. Randle is widely considered one of the best in his class, but with the draft playing out like it should, Randle should drop down to the second round, and how can the Colts pass up on him? In the next few days he will run his 40 time at the combine and that may determine where he ends up. If the Colts have a chance to get him it would be hard to see them pass him up.

The Indianapolis Colts have many questions to be answered and they will have their work cut out. If anyone can make the right decision on who to draft and when, it is the Colts front office. The Colts future is in the right hands. The NFL combine is going on this week, and the Colts will have time to really narrow their decision on who they should select in all of the rounds in the draft in April.
