The Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line has potentially suffered the biggest blow of a training camp full of injuries on Wednesday.

Jaguars starting left tackle Eugene Monroe was taken off of the practice field on a cart after getting hit in the head during team drills and is being checked for a possible concussion.

If Monroe does indeed miss any time this preseason, he would be the fourth Jaguars offensive lineman to suffer an injury so far in training camp. Starting left guard Will Rackley and his backup Jason Spitz have been sidelined for over a week with an ankle and foot injury respectively. The Jaguars have also lost backup center John Estes, who suffered a knee injury in their first preseason game that will require surgery and likely end his season.

The loss of the top two left guards on the depth chart prompted new Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey to move right tackle Eben Britton inside to fill the void while second-year lineman Cameron Bradfield took his spot at right tackle. If Monroe is going to miss any amount of time due to a concussion, the Jaguars would likely slide Bradfield over to left tackle and put former practice squad player Daniel Baldridge at right tackle.

Some believed that with Rackley out, the Jaguars had their five best offensive lineman in the starting lineup. However, if Monroe is forced to miss a significant amount of time with a concussion, the Jaguars would have their offensive line depth significantly tested.

Luckily for the Jaguars, they do not expect Monroe to miss a significant amount of time although his status for this Friday’s preseason game against the New Orleans Saints is in question.
