Denny Medley-US PRESSWIRE

After the Kansas City Chiefs got thrashed by the Seattle Seahawks on Friday night, it sounded as if head coach Romeo Crennel was getting ready to scrap everything and start over.  This sprung a plethora of rumors.  Among those short-lived rumors, existed the possibility that Crennel might step down from his position as defensive coordinator, while scrapping the offensive and defensive game plans altogether.  This would have been a disaster and certainly a reason for those living in doubt of this organization’s direction, to let out a big sigh of despair, while their worst fears of this organization’s collapse were beginning to be realized.  Luckily, this doesn’t appear to be the case.  On Monday, Crennel spoke to this effect,  “We’re not ready to throw the offense or the defense in the trash can or anything like that.”

He goes on to say, “I’m frustrated because of the way the game turned out but as you look at it, it’s not as bad as it seemed. There are some good things in the game. Guys are hustling and trying to play and trying to do the right thing. But in this team game, if you have one guy who’s not on top of his game, then the other team, sometimes they can find the soft spot. (Seattle) found the soft spot a couple of times (Friday) night. We’ve got to shore up the soft spot and not allow there to be any and then we’ll be able to be competitive from that point.”

The game wasn’t as bad as it seemed, huh?  I guess it only looks like we got outplayed in every facet of the game.  Oh well, while I am tired of the generic, cliché-ridden answers that come out of the mouths of the organization, it at least looks like Chiefs fans can rest easy for the time being.  If this type of play continues into the regular season, though, I would expect these types of rumors to resurface with a vengeance.  This organization has been, and likely will continue to be, on a short leash.
