2013 NCAA Tournament Profile: MEAC Champion North Carolina A&T Aggies

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Record: 19-16

RPI: 230

BPI: 238

Conference: Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference

How They Qualified: MEAC Tournament Champions

The North Carolina A&T Aggies are like Swiper the Fox on Dora the Explorer (Familiar with the show?), they are a team that doesn’t deserve what they have earned, but stole their way into the NCAA Tournament. Had it not been for a crazy MEAC Tournament, the Aggies would be at home playing with their Playstations as March Madness went on without them.

This will be their first appearance since 1995. It also happens to be the first year of the Cy Alexander era.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: Adrian Powell (12.5 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: Austin Witter (7.1 rpg)

Leading Passer: Lamont Middleton (2.4 apg)

Bad Losses: Utah Valley, Texas Tech, Cal State Bakersfield

Good Wins: None

So this team is not very good. It seems like a reoccurring theme that bad teams from small conferences are making the dance, but it is what it is. Adrian Powell is their best offensive player on a very bad offensive team. North Carolina A&T has a hard time breaking the 60 points per game mark on a regular basis.

As for your brackets, well, this team is about as good as a penny at a nickel machine. I wouldn’t think twice to write them off as soon as humanly possible. So please, for the love of humanity, do not send this team deep while filling out your brackets.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies are dancing!
