Nebraska’s season has had it’s ups and downs. They had a couple of high points when they won crucial games versus Ohio State, Michigan State, and Penn State, but they have also had their share of low points.

The season started decent, but it was not a dominating performance versus UTC. The Huskers moved the ball up and down the field, but it never felt like Nebraska was really in control.

Te next game versus Fresno State was not much better. The Bulldogs controlled the game for the most part, and if it were not for some late game heroics, Nebraska probably would have lost at home.

Washington came to town in the 3rd meeting between the teams in a calendar year. The Huskers jumped all over the Huskies, but they battled back. A defense that was thought to be pretty dominant this season was finding out that it was seriously lacking.

Northwestern was also a bad game for the Huskers. No disrespect, but the Huskers should not have lost the game, nor should the Wildcats have been in that game, especially after Dan Persa went out with an injury. Kain Kolter led the Wildcats on big drives late, and wore down the Huskers defense.

Nebraska was very consistent on the offensive side of the ball. They had their good games, like Washington and Michigan State, but also had their bad games, such as the last 40 minutes versus Wisconsin or versus Michigan.

Defensively, Nebraska was also very inconsistent. They did not live up to the hype that was given to them. The Huskers did have dominating defensive performances versus Michigan State and Iowa, but they also struggled versus the likes of Fresno State, Washington, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Michigan.

No single player is free from his off games, save Lavonte David. Taylor Martinez was up and down, and really down at some points. Rex Burkhead didn’t have a great game versus Northwestern, but when he’s not given the ball, how can he do that?

Tim Beck struggled at times with his play calling . The Huskers had too many three and outs, which kept the defense on the field, and hurt the Huskers defensively when they had to stay on the field so long. The Huskers also had a hard time controlling the game clock. Michigan had nearly 40 minutes of ball control, Wisconsin ran a huge amount of clock, and Northwestern held the ball for a while too.

Nebraska’s season may not have gone quite how it was projected, but the Huskers have had a good, but not great season. The Huskers will be looking to beat the Gamecocks and have some B1G pride this off season.
