Earlier this week, the New England Patriots traded their former first-round pick Laurence Maroney to the Denver Broncos—which has brought up an interesting scenario about the Pats making a strong push for Alabama running back Mark Ingram in the 2011 NFL Draft. Jeff Dooley of ESPN.com speculated the possibility of targeting Ingrim in a recent article and that trading Maroney clears room for this to happen. As of now, the Patriots contain four running backs (Fred Taylor, Kevin Faulk, Sammy Morris, and BenJarvus Green Ellis) on their roster for the 2010 season. He also brings up an interesting point about how Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe wrote about the history of injuries between Taylor and Morris—making it seem like they would struggle to last an entire 16-game season.
