Eagles’ quarterback Kevin Kolb has been fined $5000 from the NFL for his illegal horsecollar tackle on Falcons cornerback William Moore after an interception in last Sunday’s game. It is believed to be the first time the NFL has fined a quarterback for making the horsecollar tackle. Kolb’s fine is only appropriate because of the severity of the horsecollar tackle. The rule originated after Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams broke the ankle of Eagles’ wide receiver Terrell Owens during the 2004 season. Any player who uses the horsecollar tackle will be flagged 15 yards and probably fined by the league. ...
