Adding James Harrison Was the Right Move For Cincinnati Bengals

(Charles LeClaire/USA Today Sports)

Despite having one of the league’s top defenses over the last two seasons, one of the biggest areas of concern for the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason was the linebacker position. Last week, the team made a great addition by signing James Harrison to a two-year deal and even though some see this as a questionable move–this was a great addition by the Bengals.

Say what you want about Harrison and his style of play, but the truth is he’s capable of being one of the most dangerous linebackers in football when healthy–which is why Cincinnati pushed so hard to bring him on board for the 2013 season. With the way things have been playing out this offseason for the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bengals find themselves in the perfect position to make a run at the AFC North in 2013 and they have an even better shot now that Harrison is on board.

Cincinnati has been one of the biggest surprises over the last two seasons as they’ve managed to make the playoffs and their defense has been one of the main reasons why. Thanks to their recent success, expectations will be even higher heading into the 2013 season as they look to be strong contenders in the AFC once again.

Harrison was certainly a great addition and with the 2013 NFL Draft scheduled to take place on Thursday–it will be interesting to see what sort of other additions the Bengals make to their already steller defense.
