Miami Dolphins vs Atlanta Falcons: Rishard Matthews Helps Dolphins Take Lead

Rishard Matthews

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

What an incredible win by the Miami Dolphins to win 27-23 at the end of the fourth quarter. What a come-back run in the fourth quarter by two key players Brandon Gibson a catch to get the first down and that play that led Charles Clay to get a 21 yard gain. Gibson made a two-yard run that put the Dolphins close to the goal where Ryan Tannehill then threw a pass to Dion Sims for a touchdown. The players of the game were Gibson, Clay and Rishard Matthews with tremendous catches that helped save the game for the Dolphins who were facing an amazing defensive Atlanta Falcons. Matthews had another key catch in the third quarter for a 12-yard gain that helped the Dolphins close the gap that was separated by a touchdown.

It’s great to have back up receivers who do not get the spotlight from time to time but can step up in crucial moments like in the fourth quarter of the game. Mike Wallace was absent from the game with no open looks from Tannehill to pass to him. It was an exciting fourth quarter to watch the Dolphins come back little by little, first a touchdown by Brian Hartline to tie the game 20-20 to end the third quarter. Starting the fourth quarter, the Dolphins defensive stopped the Falcons and that is when the receivers and running back took advantage of the defensive and had gained yards for the Dion Sims touchdown seconds left in the game.
