The San Diego Chargers (2-1) play host to the winless Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers look to keep rolling, but the Jaguars hope to turn a new page. The Blake Bortles era is officially underway in Jacksonville, but will it be enough to immediately turn their season around? These are five bold predictions for Sunday’s matchup between the Bolts and Jags.

The Chargers have a good offense, and the Jaguars have an absolutely terrible defense. Jacksonville ranks dead last in both defense against the pass and the run. Outside of maybe keeping the Jaguars’ offense on the field a little longer, Blake Bortles won’t fix that. San Diego will get to pick the poison.

Rivers rushing for a touchdown? Now that's bold! 2011 was the last time Rivers ran into the end zone for a touchdown, but that changes against the Jaguars on Sunday. Rivers will do most of his damage through the air, throwing for an efficient 250 yards and 3 TD passes to three different receivers.

3. Donald Brown Goes For 100 Yards and 2 TDs

The Jags have allowed 480 rushing yards and four touchdowns in just three games. That is good for a 160-yard average. Brown is a talented, yet underrated running back. He’ll be able to do some serious damage in Ryan Mathews’ absence against the Jags.

2. Cecil Shorts Has Over 100 Receiving Yards and a TD

After returning to the lineup last week, Shorts was mostly unimpressive, but he did score a touchdown in garbage time, so there’s that. Shorts has been hampered by a hamstring injury, but he should feel better than he did against Indianapolis last week. Bortles will find Shorts for a long touchdown against the Bolts.

The Bortles era has officially begun in Jacksonville, and, despite arriving faster than expected, it is great news for the city. Bortles won’t be able to lead his team over Philip Rivers and the Chargers, but he will provide the Jags with what they need most – hope.
