This is an extremely intriguing matchup, heading into Week 4 of the NFL season. Both the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens are 2-1, and while this game has all the makings of a three-point victory going either way, it is evident that there is more pressure on the Panthers this week.
Carolina has an extremely rough schedule coming up. After traveling to Baltimore, the Panthers will then have to face Chicago, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Seattle, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Atlanta throughout the next seven weeks. That is a tough schedule, to say the least. After falling apart against the Pittsburgh Steelers at home during Week 3, Carolina can ill afford consistently bad play, or their season could be over during this stretch of games. Cam Newton must play big-time football and lead the Panthers during the next eight games.
The Ravens are heading into Week 4 on a two-game winning streak, and still have not seen production from their No. 1 wideout, Torrey Smith. Steve Smith Sr. has been Joe Flacco‘s favorite target thus far in 2014, but that could change on Sunday. Look for Torrey Smith to have at least one big play, and to start producing like Baltimore fans know he can.
Final prediction: this is a great NFC-AFC matchup, and should come down to a big play in the fourth quarter. With Carolina lacking multiple big-play threats at the skilled positions, I’ll take Baltimore to win this game, 23-20.
