Bishop Sankey Is Key To Tennessee Titans’ Week 12 Win

To the surprise of most viewers, the Tennessee Titans played well on Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite the eventual disappointing loss, the Titans take several positives into their Week 12 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Zach Mettenberger hasn’t been helped out much by his receivers this season, but Kendall Wright finally looked like the potential elite receiver everyone thought he would be coming into the season and Mettenberger finally connected with Nate Washington on a downfield pass.

However, the Eagles’ defense is even worse than the Steelers’ defense statistically. If the Titans are going to defeat Philadelphia, they have to run the ball well so that the Eagles’ defense can be beaten by the play-action pass. Their rookie running back, Bishop Sankey, will be key to their success.

Sankey hasn’t been impressive so far this season, but he’s also not been the focus of the Titans’ offense. He scored his second career touchdown against the Steelers but only ran the ball 11 times for 38 yards. Sankey was a workhorse back at Washington. He has the endurance to carry the ball much more in big games, but the Titans seem to prefer to throw the ball even when it’s not working.

At this point in the season it’s safe to say that Tennessee is out of the hunt for a trip to the playoffs, so what does the team lose by relying on Sankey more? The Titans have to give him a chance.

Expect the number of carries that Sankey gets this week to be the deciding factor in whether or not the Titans lose to the Eagles on Sunday. This young offense cannot have success without a solid run game.
