Heading into Week 13 of the NFL season, the Houston Texans will be fighting for their playoff lives on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. The best chance the Texans have at clinching a postseason berth is to win the AFC South, but that will be no easy task, with the favorite Indianapolis Colts in charge at the moment. However, if Houston is able to put a winning streak together, it will be in it until the end.
Even with quarterback Ryan Mallett being put on the season-ending injured reserve, with a torn pectoral, the Texans should be able to pull out a victory on Sunday. They defeated the Titans during Week 8, 30-16, and now with Week 13′s contest in Houston, the Texans should have little trouble.
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will be back under center, and he will need to utilize his weapons. Receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson are a solid duo, but the team needs to figure out how to get Johnson more involved in the red zone. He has only one touchdown this season. And whether it is Arian Foster or Alfred Blue handling the majority of the halfback load, either guy is capable of producing a big game against the Titans.
Speaking of Tennessee, its team is simply a mess. They have so many holes, and at 2-9, the Titans are in the running for the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Rookie Zach Mettenberger had his best game as a pro last week, throwing for 345 yards and two scores, yet he is far off from being considered a franchise quarterback.
Tennessee lacks dynamic playmakers on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, and unfortunately it looks like it will be awhile before the team becomes relevant again.
Final Prediction: Houston is clearly the better team, and it should take care of business at home. Texans win 27-17.
