The Detroit Lions have made the playoffs at 11-5, but if they wish to win the Super Bowl, plenty has to go their way. While this team is as talented as they come on both sides of the ball, they don't have the track record of success in the playoffs. It's hard to count on this team week in and week out. Here are five reasons why the Lions won't win Super Bowl XLIX.

The Detroit Lions' greatest team strength is their rushing defense, and heading into Dallas this weekend against the league's leading rusher without their best defensive lineman is not ideal. Detroit's success is predicated on stopping DeMarco Murray, and I'm not sure they can do that without Ndamukong Suh.

Detroit is winless in their last 16 road games against winning opponents. That's not exactly a statistic that should bear well in the playoffs as their schedule would require them to go to Dallas, Seattle and Green Bay.

Jim Caldwell was supposed to change the behaviors of the Detroit Lions, and for the majority of the year he has. But in recent weeks, the Lions have started to unravel with the suspensions of Ndamukong Suh and Dominic Raiola. Will Detroit revert back to their old ways if things go badly in the playoffs?

2. Lack of a Running Game

The running back position has been a revolving door for the Lions this year. One week it's Reggie Bush, the following week it's Joique Bell. Despite the talent in the backfield, the Lions are nearly last in the league in rushing, averaging 89 yards per game. Teams need to run the ball and play defense to win in the postseason, and right now, this team can't run the ball.

Matthew Stafford has all the talent in the world, but he always falls short in the biggest games of the year. Just look at last week's game against the Green Bay Packers for the NFC North crown. Yes, he had two touchdown passes, but he was inaccurate on the most crucial of plays. When push comes to shove, it's hard to trust Stafford, especially outdoors.
