A traditional 1pm Sunday start at Lincoln Financial Field is the back drop for this battle of division foes.  Both teams are 1-1.  Both teams do not like each other.  Both teams have talked trash.  Both teams need a win, especially one within the division.

It is the Eagles home opener, so the crowd will be in a frenzy.  Michael Vick gets the nod as the starter.  The Giants front four will be licking their chops at an opportunity for a bone crushing hit on the quarterback.  The Eagles will have a game plan that is no different than any before….attack.  The Giants know coach Andy Reid all to well and will be prepared.

If Andy Reid is smart, he will utilize LeSean McCoy heavily.   The Giants speed rushers could be vulnerable to McCoy’s uncanny cut back ability.  Additionally, Reid should have some designed role outs for Vick that will buy him some needed time.

I expect the Giants to rely heavily on their stout running game.  Eagles defensive coordinator, Juan Castillo, finally shuffled the linebackers.  Castillo moved Casey Matthews to the weak side and placed Jamar Chaney in the middle.  Why did this obvious decision take so long?  No one knows.

The Giants number one wide receiver, Mario Manningham, will be out do to injury.  There is no sane reason the Giants will have Eli Manning try to pick apart the Eagles vaunted secondary.  Unless, the Giants are getting spanked.

So, each team’s game plans will be painfully obvious.  The game comes down to who wins the individual battles at each position.  Players will be chippy.  That is why I love football.  That is why this should be a spirited contest, with a lot of penalties.
