Jabari Parker Will Play a “Ryan Kelly”-like Role In Next Year’s Duke Blue Devils

Dave Daniels- Rant Sports

Jabari Parker’s days of high school hoops are now over after the Nike Hoop Summit. Now he can begin to focus on the type of player he will be during his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils. It should be a special year for Parker, who some have said may even play a couple years in college. That should be music to the ears of Blue Devil fans. Some former Dukies are excited, but hesitant to see Parker play against the next level of competition.

“I don’t know what to expect because I have never seen Jabari play against other kids of this caliber,” ESPN analyst Jay Williams said. “Will he take over the game, work his teammates into the flow of the game or just try and fit in? With an unselfish player like Jabari, you know he is team-oriented.”

Williams also seems to think that Parker will need to take over at times for the Blue Devils to win games. That will be especially true if the Blue Devils ever play that so-so recruiting class over in Lexington. Parker will be ready to carry a heavy load next year though, of that you can be absolutely sure.

“He can be a scorer and Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) will need to replace those points,” Williams said. “I think Jabari Parker can blaze his own path.”
